…cos o naszej czwartkowej klasie i nie tylko….

…witam wszystkich bardzo serdecznie w kolejnym, nowym roku szkolnym 2018/2019. Minely wakacje, na pewno dla wszystkich byly one bardzo gorace.  Nie tylko w Europie panowaly upaly. Wiemy, ze i w Kanadzie temperatury przekraczaly niejednokrotnie 30stopni C.  A teraz cos o naszej szkole. Po raz drugi rozpoczely sie zajecia w naszej czwartkowej klasie, w tym samym miejscu, co rok temu. Sprawdzilo sie ono i zawsze dziekujemy za nowe lokum naszemu Ksiedzu.  Witamy bardzo serdecznie nowych uczniow, najmlodsza Abbie i jej tate pana Sebastiana, a mego bylego ucznia sprzed lat, Samira, Monike, pana Reja. Coraz czesciej przybywaja na zajecia dzieci moich bylych uczniow z klasy wtorkowej, ktore uczylam wiele lat temu.  Niestety nagle musialam pozostac tylko przy klasie czwartkowej, gdyz we wtorki spadala frekwencja. Ale nic to… kocham moich studentow z klasy czwartkowej, ktorzy stworzyli specyficzny, rodzinny kliamat. Pisalam juz o tym, ze to wielka przyjemnosc, uczyc w czwartki ludzi, ktorzy sa w roznym wieku, wladaja jezykiem polskim  na roznym poziomie, a jednak TYLE nas laczy!! Pozdrawiamy nasza pania Basie, ktorej zyczymy jak najlepszego zdrowia i szybkiego powrotu do nas. Pozdrawiamy pana Jana, meza pani Eli i mamy nadzieje, ze jest coraz lepiej. Pani Ela juz zawitala do klasy na zajecia.Pozdrawiamy pana Glenna i czekamy na niego.  W tym roku nasz kraj —Polska obchodzi 100-lecie Niepodleglosci i w zwiazku z tym poswiecimy wiecej czasu na ten temat. Bedziemy mowic o rozbiorach Polski, o I Wojnie Swiatowej i  ze po zakonczeniu jej, Polska odzyskala swa niepodleglosc po 123 latach niewoli.  Bedziemy wspominac Jozefa Pilsudskiego, Paderewskeigo. Rozpoczelismy nasz rok z dobra energia i na pewno bedzie tak caly rok. Cieszymy sie tez, ze Katolicki Wydzial Oswiaty, czyli DCDSB, do ktorego naleze od  wielu, wielu lat , po raz pierwszy zorganizowal zajecia dla klas srednich z udostepnieniem do kredytow, ktore sa potrzebne na studia. Fantastyczna sprawa, zwlaszcza dla mlodych uczniow ze szkol srednich. Przypadlo mi w udziale prowadzic ten kurs jezyka polskiego. Do zobaczenia w czwartki na naszych zajeciach…Krystyna Swirska.

Welcome everyone to another new school year 2018-2019. The summer was hot. There was a heat wave in Europe but also here in Canada the temperatures were often well above 30 centigrade. Now, some news about the school. For the second year we started our Thursday night classes in the same building. The location is excellent and we thank the our priest for accommodating us. We welcome new students this year. Warm welcome to our youngest student Abbie and her dad, Mr. Sebastian. Also welcome  Samir,  Monika and Mr. Ray. It’s lovely when children of my former students from the Tuesday class join us. I love my students who have created a very specific family atmosphere. I already mentioned in a previous post that it is a particular pleasure to teach such a diverse group. Different ages, different levels of speaking Polish, but there is so much that connects us. Warm greetings to Ms. Basia. Also warm greetings to Mr Jan, Ms. Ela’s husband. Ms. Ela is now back in class. Also greetings to Mr. Glenn as we hope to see him soon. This year Poland will be celebrating 100 years of Independence. As a result, we will spend time discussing this major anniversary. We will talk about Poland’s partition, about World War I, and that after the end Poland regained its independence after 123 years. We will remark on Jozef Pilsudski and Paderewski. We started our year with renewed energy and I’m confidence we will continue like this throughout the year. I’m pleased to hear that the Durham Catholic District School Board, the DCDSB to which I have belonged for many years, has organized classes for high school kids, allowing them to gain credit for taking Polish lessons, which is so important  for graduating and for post secondary education. Fantastic and great for high schoolers. Looking forward to participating in this effort. See you all on Thursday!

PODZIEKOWANIE!!!

I welcome all of you, at the end of another year,  so full of wonderful memories in our C.K.Norwid Polish Language and Culture High School in Oshawa.  I know, as all of you know, that we have so much strength that we cannot be defeated. Thanks to our determination and help from Father Klemens, we are here. We thank Father for supporting us — it was a great help. I thank all of you, for every Thursday. I thank the parents, grandparents, the ladies at the Credit Union for their warm words, and I thank Mr. Steve Crowhurst, for his work on the website. I thank Mr and Mrs. Ustupski for the delicious treats, the bookstore POLIMEX for the books,  pani Anna Gadek and dear Ania from our Parish for all the help. Lastly, I thank my husband, Marek. Witam Panstwa  bardzo serdecznie, minal  kolejny rok, w naszej Szkole Sredniej Jezyka i Kultury Polskiej im. C.K. Norwida w Oshawie,  jakze znow bogaty w przezycia. Doswiadczamy je kazdego roku, ale  ja wiem i Panstwo, ze mamy w sobie tak duzo sily, iz trudno nas “pokonac”. Dzieki determinacji nas wszystkich i pomocy Ksiedza Klemensa…jestesmy wlasnie tu i teraz. Bardzo dziekujemy Ksiedzu za wsparcie i bezinteresownosc, to wielka dla nas  pomoc!. Dziekuje wszystkim Panstwu za kazdy czwartek, dziekuje rodzicom, dziekuje babciom, dziekuje paniom z Credit Union za mile i cieple slowa i dziekuje panu Steve Crowhurst za to, ze umozliwia kazdemu sprawdzic na internecie i dowiedziec sie blizej o nas, o naszym kursie, o naszej klasie czwartkowej. Dziekuje panstwu Ustupskim za slodkosci, ksiegarni POLIMEX za ksiazeczki, pani Ani Gadek i drogiej Ani z naszej Parafii za pomoc , rowniez dziekuje mojemu mezowi Markowi. Thursday’s Polish Class goes to the movies

We saw Loving Vincent and it was amazing ! The Polish connection for all of us was truly overwhelming . So many talented Polish artists contributing to the production of this film.

Bylo jak zawsze bardzo milo spotkac sie w kinie na ciekawym filmie. Szkoda, ze nie mogla byc z nami reszta grupy: pani Malgosia W. pan Glenn , pan Erik i Nikita H. Moze nastepnym razem przybedziemy wszyscy. Do zobaczenia w przyszly czwartek.Podrawiam.Krystyna Swirska.

The world’s first fully oil-painted animated feature film, Loving Vincent brings the art of Vincent van Gogh to life to recount the life story of this most mysterious, mythical and tragic of great painters. Shot first as a live-action film, acted by a sterling cast and then painted over frame by frame with oils, Loving Vincent is simply an extraordinary cinematic achievement. This unexpected murder mystery follows in the aftermath of van Gogh’s death in July 1890. Armand Roulin , the son of an Arles postman, is instructed by his father to deliver a newly discovered letter to Vincent’s brother, Theo, who had supported the painter emotionally and financially. Making his journey from Paris and then to Auvers-sur-Oise, the northern French town where Vincent died, Armand encounters various people (many subjects from famous van Gogh paintings) who provide contradictory anecdotes about the painter’s death, suggesting it may not have been a suicide after all. The artist’s intoxicating colours and thick, vibrant brushstrokes come to life in jaw-dropping detail, making this a film best seen on the big screen. The film took more than six years to complete, with about 125 artists diligently hand-painting over 65,000 frames. With the van Gogh Museum in the Netherlands, the ultimate authority on the artist, officially endorsing the film, this will be the most visually stunning and magical film you will see this year.
